Why It’s Appealing:
The City of Lakewood is unique in its devotion to open spaces including ten major parks offering public swimming pools, after-school programs, organized sports leagues and family and community gatherings. A few of the parks in Lakewood include Simon Bolivar Park, Cherry Cove Park and Jose Del Valle Park, affectionately known as “Airplane Park” due to the Douglas F3D “Skynight” jet fighter proudly displayed on the southwest corner of the park. Lakewood real estate has really escalated of late as it has become more and more competitive with Long Beach. There is an increasing sense of pride-of-ownership that is demonstrated in curb appeal and home improvements. Lakewood has less of the chaotic pace of some surrounding cities but holds its own in what it has to offer.
