Ya Gotta Eat: Mom's Easy Homemade Sunday Sauce

Mom's Easy Homemade Sunday Sauce!

  • 1 Small Onion- chopped
  • 1/4 Cup Chopped Fresh Basil
  • 2- 12 oz Cans of Whole San Marzano Tomatoes
  • 2 Tbsps Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • Salt and Pepper to Taste

  1. Heat a saucepan and add the chopped onion.
  2. Cook for about 5-10 minutes until softened then add the chopped basil and saute for a few more minutes.
  3. While the onion is cooking crush the tomatoes in a strainer removing the pulp (or you can cheat and use 2 cans of crushed tomatoes, but the sauce can be a little thicker this way).
  4. Add the strained tomatoes to the onion and basil. Bring to a boil and drop the heat to low. Cover and continue to simmer on a low heat for about 30-45 minutes.
  5. Add salt and pepper to taste.

So simple right?!?
